How to add the connector

What it is

The connector lets your AI assistant, Claude or ChatGPT, read PropagandaScope’s member tables of Chinese newspaper articles.

It gives the assistant three read-only tools: Run a query on the member tables, Read an article in full, and Basic facts about the data.

You ask in plain language; your assistant writes the queries.

Access

Access is by invitation only.

Each member has one invitation link of their own to pass on.

You see your own link after you sign in through an invitation link.

Sign in with Google, using the account you joined with.

Add it in Claude

As of October 2026, on a Free, Pro or Max plan you add it yourself. The Free plan allows one custom connector.

As of October 2026, on a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner of your organization adds it; you then choose Connect under Customize → Connectors.

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors on claude.ai.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name: PropagandaScope. URL: the address above.
  4. If asked: Authentication, Sign in now; OAuth client, Register automatically.
  5. Choose Add, then Connect if asked.
  6. On the PropagandaScope page that opens, choose Continue with Google and sign in.
  7. In a chat, turn the connector on under + → Connectors.

Add it in ChatGPT

As of October 2026, you need a Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu account, and ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com in a browser).

As of October 2026, on Business, only an admin or owner can turn on developer mode.

As of October 2026, on Enterprise and Edu, an admin first allows it under Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data.

  1. Turn on developer mode: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode.
  2. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, choose +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name: PropagandaScope. Server URL: the address above.
  4. Authentication: OAuth (dynamic registration if asked). Leave the client ID and secret empty.
  5. Choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  6. On the PropagandaScope page that opens, choose Continue with Google and sign in.
  7. Install it: open PropagandaScope in your plugins and choose +.
  8. In a new chat, type @ and choose PropagandaScope.

In use

  • You sign in again every 30 days.
  • Each night from about 03:00 to 05:00 UTC the tables are rebuilt, and queries are refused.
  • Titles and passages come from the newspapers, and the link always leads to the original.
