Density shows keyword frequency as a proportion — articles containing this keyword divided by total articles published by that source in the same period. This controls for differences in publication volume: a source publishing 50 keyword mentions out of 500 total articles (10%) is less saturated than one publishing 20 out of 100 (20%), even though its absolute count is higher.
